Earth Day Food & Wine Weekend is exactly what its name promises—a WHOLE weekend filled with food, wine, farmers and fun. That’s why so many of our supporters have created their own extra events where you can express your earthiness all over town.
Choose from lunches, dinners, cheese pairings, tours, tasting and tests. There’s something for everyone all Earth Day-weekend long.
At Pomar Junction, you’re invited to a Train Wreck on Friday, April 17, 5:30-8:30pm. Join Central Coast wine titan Dana Merrill and his family for an evening of world-class wines, live music and a mind-blowing sunset. They’ll be grilling up a feast, but also feel free to pack your own picnic. Wines are available by the bottle or glass, and everyone is welcome to join in the fun.
If a more “formal” (and by formal we mean sitting at a table) experience is your speed, head to Niner Wine Estate’s Earth Day Food & Wine Dinner with Chef Maegan Loring. Loring is pulling out all the stops to craft Le Grand Aioli, a traditional Provencal feast paired perfectly with Niner Wines. Did we mention the awesome sauce? “Aoili” is derived from the French word “ali” for garlic and “oli” the old langue d’oc word for olive oil—and you’ll find this captivating condiment alongside a vast array of farm-fresh veggies, meats, fresh seafood and crusty bread. Wear your stretchy pants because you’re going to want to nom on everything.
Enjoy olive the fun that can be had at Olea Farm, where you’ll witness first hand how olives are selected and then pressed into the world’s most delicious drizzle. The tour is FREE, but you need to make a reservation, simply because they need to know in advance how many French fries to make for their complimentary tasting.
But wait there’s more: Claiborne & Churchill puts you to the test with their favorite blind tasting, Ancient Peaks is offering dairy delights paired with their award winning wines, Windrose Farm invites you to shop for fresh veggies, Laetitia is going dark with a cellar dinner that will open your eyes to some incredible food pairings and Talley gets its hands dirty with a delicious farm-to-table luncheon.
Fill up your Earth Day Food & Wine Weekend with unforgettable experiences hosted by our lot of local luminaries. Which ones will you choose?
